July 24th Family Reunion

We had a big 24th of July Family Reunion in our backyard.  All of my father’s siblings came and brought their families with them.  We had close to seventy people.  The 24th of July is a state holiday in Utah because that is the day the first Mormon pioneers arrived her to settle the land.  We take a little pride in our ancestors that were the first to come to our great state.

My mom came early and helped us set up the tables and make lovely flower arrangements.  She’s handy to have around.

I am related to the best cooks in the universe.  We had the famous Provo J-Dawgs, grilled chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, the scrumptious Sarah’s salad, deviled eggs, orange cream jello salad, fresh watermelon, delicious sugar cookies, mini-cupcakes, and homemade ice-cream (including burnt almond fudge, cherry walnut, strawberry banana, raspberry, and vanilla).  Yummo!  And the company was even better.  The siblings do the lion’s share of the food.  Thank you aunts and uncles!

All descendants of Elias Hicks Blackburn, one of the first settlers in Provo.  All men shared a story in his life when he was their age.

Meet some of our family members.  Our aunts and uncles, grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great grandparents

Thank you all for coming!  It was a hot day but we sat in the shade and got caught up on each other’s lives.  The little cousins had so much fun together.  We love you all and hope to see you next July!

  1. Fun party…hey I saw your brother in Price…and he thought I was Wendi. And now I can’t remember which brother, pretty sure it was Phillip. So I didn’t get together with anyone but after I move in and life stabilizes we need to have a smaller party get together.

  2. Thanks for getting us all together and hosting the party, it was awesome!

    Love ya;

    Uncle Dwight & Aunt Ruth Ann
